These boots have been submitted to approximately 750 hours of use at the time of this writing. They were my everyday companions in the field. They saw lots of rain, mud, brush, and miles. They were used for felling trees, pruning vineyard, planting hundred and hundred of grapevines, and hiking in the desert. They saw their share of manure as well. They’ve held up very well all things considered.
This heavy cut is leather was very stiff to start. It’s still rather stiff, but has take more of a mould to my feet. I didn’t do anything f special for break-in. I just went to work. It was wiped down regularly, sometimes with the help of Obenauf’s Leather Cleaner. Sometimes they were very muddy and has to be hosed as gently as possible. For treatment, I used Otter Wax Saddle Soap for a deeper clean and Otter Wax Leather Salve to bring back some moisture after so much rain and mud. There was once application of Saphir Dubbin to really try and get some grease in there. The boots were treated as needed with Otter Wax Boot Wax on the upper leather and sole edge. They’re thirsty for a work leather, but I’m really happy with their toughness and beauty. They darkened a lot. Which was to be expected. I’d like to have preserved more of the tan tones.

But doing the entire boot in chestnut would be very nice, too. I like the way looks broken in. It has good rolling, the color change isn’t super dramatic, but it has some really attractive high lows. And I like the understated development of color change and textural pop.
It’s gotten very dark! It’s a great leather for kiltie use.
It’s very good. I’m a 10D in all major tape measurements. There’s lots of arch support. And wiggle room for my toes, I’m a touch on the lower volume side. The 55 works for everything for me. I usually wore them with felt insoles. I like a really firm fit.
The craftsmanship is very very good. Everything has held together well. And even though it’s a work boot, the finishing was above expectations. Design wise, it’s nothing fancy.
I love it. I can’t go back to the harder lug outsole. They are a workhorse of an outsole. And they performed better than expected on ice.
Same as above
I really like these boots and it was really fun to experience wearing them through the lens of the Thunderdome.
