Why I own this

Custom
Workplace Needs

I teach high school agriculture and shop classes. Needed a boot that had a composite toe and one that would hold up to lots of sparks, heat, and sharp surfaces. The boot needed to also perform when working in our livestock barn and garden areas. My wedge sole Travelers were comfortable, but lacked the traction I needed for manual labor. Honestly the waxed flash held up well and did not show a lot of patina until the last couple of months.

How I sized

Compared to Other Lasts

I went through the try on process with my Nicks that are HNW last. Wore those fur a year. Franks fit exactly the same.

Customer Service

Super easy! Sent a couple of emails that were answered quickly. Talked to customer service on the phone and placed the order. Arrived earlier than estimated lead times.

Use & wear

Physical Work

Teaching, Welding, and Outdoor Farm Work Most of my day is spent in a HS welding shop teaching structural welding, but ai also manage my schools farm which is located in the city so we are unique. We raise pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits and poultry so these boots have seen their share of various work conditions.

Color Change

Almost too good for this contest. The wax has started to patina and the color has lightened but not as much patina development as I would like at this stage. I like the indigo transfer but the boot uppers are still really stiff. I brushed them off weekly and wiped with a damp rag when muddy. No additional wax or grease have been applied.

Satisfied with the Fit

Super comfy. These are my go to boots for work because of the support and comfort they offer. Prefer these over my wedge sole boot options.

Finishing
Durability
Stitching

No issues with the boots! The design is great. I prefer an 8” over 6”. I think these boots do not breath as well as other boots because of the lining Franks uses. Sometimes I take a day off because they do not dry out completely over night.

Sole & heel

Traction
Comfort

Superior traction but are wearing much like a wedge. They will need at least a heel cap in the next 6 months.

Final thoughts

Would Recommend

Great boots looking forward to buying another pair of Franks. 55 last??? I am on my feet for 12+ hours a day and upgrading to PNW boots has been a game changer when it comes to alleviating fatigue.
