I tried to wear these as much as possible. A lot of which was just going to the office, thankfully mine is very casual so these were fine even when beat up. However, evenings and weekends I was walking in the nearby parks, putting in the miles with my friends playing Pokemon Go and just generally trying to be outside, not in a car. These chewed through 2 pairs of laces on my adventures. So, rain, mud, gravel, carpets, these have seen quite a bit. No snow this year, though.
I applied Obenaufs a couple months in when it was getting very rainy. In particular I hit the welt and was really pleased at how it cleaned up the look. I was wearing them a lot so I didn’t have shoe trees in as often as I normally would. The break in was pretty easy to me, and the boots comfortable in all conditions from office to drizzly urban hike. I do feel like the patina sort of hit a wall, but I am satisfied with the way they look.
The Leo last is already tried and true for me. With the loosening up these experienced due to heavy wear, I can very comfortably wear thicker socks.
These feel so solid and I didn’t perceive any flaws when I received them. I don’t see myself as extremely qualified to comment on this other than these are beautiful and I’m very happy.
The microstud sole has a sleek profile that makes this casual boot slightly smart or dressy (for the pnw). While I like this, I was slipping a lot when it was wet. I’m looking forward to replacing it, honestly.
This is my 4th Grant Stone boot and I’m trying not to amass a giant collection but it’s so satisfying to get a new pair. This has a great place in my collection as the waxed suede handles inclement weather extremely well.
