I chose this pair because kangaroo has been an intriguing leather that I've heard good things about in terms of durability and comfort. I also chose this pair for the Thunderdome because I've seen very few examples of how this jungle color patinas.
Purchasing from Grant Stone is super easy
Honestly, I had low hopes of interesting patina given that I usually work from home and don't wear shoes in the house. So, in order to maximize the time wearing these, I ended up wearing these to the gym several times a week and to church each week. I did wear these during one 6 mile hike. Otherwise, I didn't have any particular strenuous activities.
The kangaroo is supple but pretty tough wearing. It didn't really need any break in. The interesting thing with this leather is the color variation under different lighting conditions. Some spots started to show with wear (most prominently on the toe area) - I assume that's just part of the original skin. Care is pretty easy - just a wipe with a damp both, a little Bick4 when needed, occasional brushing.
Overall it's pretty good. I did have some stitching come loose near the lowest eyelets on the right boot. Also, some of the speed hooks rotated. Other than that, everything held up just fine.
