I’ve take these Imperium’s to Mexico City, and taken my fierce Doodle on strolls through the mean streets of Fairfax, VA. I’ve also plowed through mountains of snow in these.
The Horsebutt on these is THICK. I’ve conditioned them lightly a couple of times, but they can take a lot. The Horsebutt on these is forever.
They’re good. I removed the insoles because the Horsebutt on these is very thick, and less forgiving. I tend to prefer a looser fit with the thicker, less forgiving uppers (like cordovan and thicker Horsebutt). They fit perfect without the insoles.
Kevin at Imperium did great on these.
They’re not ideal for the Thunderdome because of how solid they are. They would Have curled with leather soles, or half soles. These Dr Soles are tanks, and for the long haul.
No complaints. Solid!
I’ve grown to love these boots. At first, I wasn’t sure if I could pull off the orange, but they’re more versatile than you’d think. My wife isn’t a fan of boots, but she actually likes these as well—which, again, I wouldn’t have predicted. The Maryam horsebutt TPR on this pair is thick, and I can absolutely see them lasting a lifetime. I have other pairs in Maryam horsebutt that are much softer and more forgiving, but this one is tough and takes time to mold—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Through this journey, I’ve learned that I prefer a slightly looser fit with tougher uppers like cordovan and heavier, less forgiving leathers. Although these were sized correctly, I ended up removing the insoles to get the fit just right, and now they’re perfect. All in all, I’m glad I chose this pair as my first Thunderdome entry. I’ve come to appreciate them more with every wear, and I’m happy I’ve been able to give them the use they deserve.
