These are the go-to boots for my everyday activities. Equally good with a suit or jeans, these amazing boots have walked, ran, marched, danced and stood for up to 16 hours a day. My work takes me outside over grass, gravel, boardwalks, sidewalks, stairs, hills, dog walking, yardwork and livestock visits in the paddocks. They have been in rain, snow, puddles, mud and gravel.
At first, they seemed delicate and too nice for everyday. However, that assumption has been blown up with my daily routine. Shinki Hikaku horse is tough leather and very durable. Break-in was very easy with this leather. It keeps getting darker and the wait for the tea core patina to start showing is a test of patience. They got cleaned and brushed after getting dirty or scuffed hard and they got a bit of Bick 4 once a month to condition through the winter and wipedown and allowed to air dry. They have held up amazingly well.
With a narrow heel and wide ball in a size 13, the mandrill last is perfect. The boots are fully lined, so slipping in my foot is almost a religious experience and with a slight sucking sound as if the boots grab my feet. Very lovely for walking in and feels like fine leather gloves. I have a low volume, but high arch foot, so this shape really works. These have a structured toe, with no pressure points. Perfection!
Jakkrabbits has made me several pairs of boots. Each time they knock it out of the park. These were an MTO pair. I picked all the features and it became one of their stock models. The finishing is fabulous and nothing is left to chance.
These are my go-to soles for all my boots. Super grippy, solid rubber/cork. Cant go wrong here.
Perfect!
I cant recomend Jakkrabbits enough. Their work has been great for me. With a 13D/E brannock size and a narrow heel and wide ball, they get it and worked with me to get it right. These boots stand out and make me smile every time I out them on!
