Why did you choose this item?
This is my second pair of Jim Green boots; I also have a pair of African Rangers in Crazy Horse. They fit well and are great to wear. So back to the brand for a second pair. But I decided on a different style. That was an easy choice I don’t own any Moc-toe boots. Talking my self out of the crazy horse leather again was hard. I really like the crazy horse. I went back and forth between the Bronco and the Houston brown. In the end I thought the Bronco would be versatile.
How did you determine your size?
I followed Jom Green recommendation that it is sized true to Brannock. I also tried on 11.5; my shoe size has been in a little bit of a flux recently. I wasn’t swimming in those and the fit well enough. I have a pair of African rangers in 11.5 that occasionally think are too big. So, with all that knowledge I choose the size 11s.
What was the ordering process?
Ordering was a breeze, and then shipping was fast.
Use & wear
Daily we’re through a Chicago Fall and Winter. Lots and lots of city walking through wet and slush and snow. Then in the office at work.
Leather
The break period was fairly short with no pain. They are taken on a rich color as they have been worn and conditioned. I cleaned then once with saddle soap. I used Bick conditioner several times but not in the last two months.
Fit
It’s a roomy boot but not so much that it’s not good to wear. Great toe box room.
Craftsmanship
These are very well built, with good hardware. The laces stretch a bit too much. The durability is fantastic, they have broken in not broken down. I haven’t noticed a stitch out of place.
Sole & heel
The soles got chewed up by the constant waking on concrete. That being said they did well on snow, but not in ice. Walking around in them is a pleasure; not walking on pillows but not rock hard either.
Final thoughts
I can not recommend these boots enough. They are solidly built comfortable and I think good looking. Despite being worn down on concrete faster than I would’ve liked they are a joy to have for waking in the city. I had some buyers remorse in the leather at first but they gave witn beautifully. They make a great daily wear.
