Nicks Handmade Boots
These have been my work boots. I work as an underground laborer in California. It was a dry winter but when I did get in the water my feet stayed dry.
The 1964 leather was very easy on my feet from the beginning. The leather has held up well. The leather has required little maintenance, mostly brushing. The roughout really likes the Obenauf's LP.
This was my first boot on the T55 last. The T55 last changes the toe box so my foot didn't push off the side of the boot so much. The arch support, instep, length and overall feel was great. I like the Kirkland Brand merino wool socks but also have Grip6. The Grip6 socks are thinner and feel much different in the boot. I prefer the thicker socks with these boots.
I like the double lasted construction method over a goodyear welt. The stitchdown is more water resistant. Nicks uses good leather and is pretty good at picking the best parts when clicking. My boots are struck through and roughout so there's not really anything special to talk about with the leather appearance. The stitching has held up well and the finishing was basic, again nothing special to mention for a builder pro.
The Honey lug is a great outsole I work in the city mostly and its lasted pretty well for the last 6-7 months. I could probably use a resole soon to freshen up the boot. I drag my fees sometimes and the outsoles can become misshapen but that's not the boots fault. As far as comfort I don't notice much any difference between the different outsoles on my boots.
The heel has held up well and is worn equivalent to the rest of the sole.
I like the Nicks Builder Pro. It's a great boot. I would highly recommend a pair for anyone that is looking for a solid pair of boots. The price is off putting for most people but once you wear them it's a no brainer. I know for sure when I grab my Nicks that my feet will be good all day no matter what I throw at them.
