In only a few months, these boots have been through an incredible amount of abuse across three continents. From Arctic snow to humid swamps and African sand to volcanic mud. I took them hiking often, the V-Bar sole provided a surprising amount of traction considering their design. Despite the abuse I was able to clean them up and wear them to the office or out to dinner. I even wore them through the airport and received comments from security staff every time I had to take them off (they were always shocked by the weight and how many nails were in them). These boots are comfortable in any situation and the leather can handle whatever you need it to, I'll be keeping these around for many years even though I do wish I got them one size wider.
This leather is great. It doesn't wrinkle, but rather develops fabulous rolls. A warm brown color shows through in the high wear areas and with a bit of extra wax the leather takes really well to polishing. Other than wax, I moisturized some areas with subbing grease when it got dry. It's extremely durable and is very difficult to damage. It's also very comfortable even when brand new with little to no break-in issues. I do tend to sweat in them, but between the leather and wool socks absorbing the water my feet stay dry all day. It was critical to dry them by giving them 24 hour breaks and using other shoes.
The HNW last from nicks fits great and true to size. It's very comfortable and it looks great.
Nicks makes an excellent boot. I've had no issues with the construction and I'm pretty sure they'll last forever. The leather and stitching is high quality all around.
