To be honest I was not expecting the Predator Orange to turn into Predator Purple or in some lighting, almost black. The color change from the bottom of the boot to the top is absolutely shocking. I am not really sure what specifically caused them to become so dark, but I suspect the heavy exposure to salt spray and mud may have contributed. I was an obsessive brusher. Every other day the boots were brushed. I used nicks wax a couple of times after the boots had dryed out from being completely soaked during some rain storms.
After the breakin the Falcons formed into an easy everyday wearer. Sizing and support were great and there were no pain issues at all. The importance of quality socks was realized early on.
An absolute epitome of a Nicks Falcon boot. Zero flaws and perfect in every way. Durability was top tier for a boot that could pass for both business casual or outdoor rugged.
To me the V-Bar was a "dressier" type sole. Although it did excel at most tasks I did at times feel like I would have been better well equipped with the V100s. I think I may have pushed the V-Bars to their limits on some snowy hill sides. Yet long walks on concrete or office settings were the V-Bars bread and butter.
Plenty of traction as long as you aren't on a snowy hill side. Extremely easy to keep clean. Wear was a little fast if heavy use on concrete.
I set my own rules and they were simple. If I stepped foot out of the house, the boots went with me. And other than being down 3 days from the flu, my Nicks Falcons were worn, Every. Single. Day. No exceptions. Work: Undercover Law Enforcement Total Steps: 1.1 Million Total Miles: 596 The first month break in was a bit of a challenge. But by the end of month 2 they really began to losen up. Month 4 was when we hit that transformation. Like a butterfly coming out of its cacoon. The dark rich colors began to form and every week the ebb and flow from light to dark was drastic. Month 6 was a real treat. That glove like feel that everyone talks about. That peak fit where you can bend in any direction and the boot is no longer pushing back on you. Obsessive overbrushing may have occurred, but never over conditioned. Several cuts, scrapes, and abbrasions along the way. But, a few light applications of Nicks wax was all that was needed. Built to last is an understatement. Hard wear, resole, and repeat. That is what these are designed for. Thinking I was ready to finally wear a different pair of boots today I threw on some redwings that I had resoled. Instant regret, as my feet longed for my trusty Nicks Falcons. My Nicks are apart of me now and I cannot wait for a resole. I will cherish them for the rest of my life. Thanks for an awesome experience!
