Nicks Handmade Boots
Falcon
US Men's Brannock: 9.5E HTB/9 HTT
HNW Last: 9EE
I sized as an F using the self sizing guide, went down a width for a more snug fit. I’m not sure how much these boots will relax over time but the EE seems pretty spot on now.

Needed to experience some Nicks and that Cypress leather.
Used Nicks sizing guide and measurement chart. It’s pretty spot on, I went a width lower based on Grain and Twill’s comments and it worked out perfectly.
Ordered through Nicks
I mostly used these this in a South Eastern environment. Humid and hot, I really don’t do anything by that requires boots, so they’re mostly office queens. Super overkill outside of style points.
It’s a relatively stiff leather with tons of waxes and oils. It’s not even close to being broken in. Keeping them in rotation to see how the leather develops. I don’t do anything to it other than a little brush.
The HNW last is pretty supportive throughout, not too much heel lift or tightness. The toe box is really rounded and has tons of room, if that is your thing. I have short toes, a wide foot, and a medium instep. I have no fitting issues.
Materials and build quality are solid, no real concerns, these things are tanks. I do wish there was more attention given to the pattern design, what you see online isn’t necessarily what you’ll get. It seems like they have fewer uppers sizes and adjust the vamp sizing as needed. This throws the proportions off in my opinion. The heel on my pair is also a Quabaug, I spec’d a Vibrum 430. The Quabaug or at least the size they used on this boot is oversized. It throws the proportions off, so its not really the most desirable. They use what they have to keep the production line running, but I would like to see improvements in this area. There might already be in place with the 1925 and Parkhurst last. This particular pair feels like the uppers are for a size 10, the vamp for a size 9 and the heel for a size 11. It just sort of feels like a Frankenstein boot, proportionally speaking. I make this comment but also appreciate the boot for what it is, Nicks are really a work boot first and everything else second. This boot is a nicer looking work boot and that’s that. As another aside, the boarder on the sole/uppers is quite wide and you really don’t see this in pictures very well. These have about a half to three quarters of an inch from where the upper flair out and the sole edge. I know they do this so the boot can be resoled a bunch of times without running out of material. Some other models come with a “close trim,” but just something to keep in mind. You kind of feel like Ronald McDonald until the break in a bit.
It’s cool, works well and does its job
It’s a solid boot, love the Cypress leather, and overall construction of the boot. It will truly last you a life time.
