Nicks Handmade Boots
I use these for retaining wall installation and landscaping. They have been exposed to an insane amount of silica dust from cutting blocks and pavers. However, I wear them just about everywhere. You name it these boots have done it.
The Ash grey roughout leather is great for a work boot. Super tough leather. Break in was normal, no issues. With the amount of silica dust and concrete slurry these are exposed to, they need to be cleaned thoroughly and re-proofed with Obenaufs quite regularly. Most days after work they get blasted off with the garden hose and thats that. Every few wears i brush them, first with a nylon brush, then horsehair. This helps to redistribute the oils and keep them looking sharp. Maybe once per month they get a deep clean with saddle soap, and a hefty slathering of Obenaufs grease. Treating with Obenaufs has been critical for keeping these water resistant.
My first experience with the 55 last was with the Nicks Builderpro. I loved the fit so i ordered these in the same size and same last. The composite toe is great, no toe rub lots of wiggle room. I use a foam insole in the summer, then switch to a thinner felt insole in cool weather which gives me more room to wear a thick wool sock.
The craftsmanship is absolute perfection. No notes.
I love the v100 sole! Perfect outsole for a work boot!
Classic heel height feels great. Heel cap is high quality.
Highly recommend Nicks boots. Holds up to even the nastiest of jobsite conditions. If you want some of the worlds toughest work boots, go with Nicks.
