Year 2 for my Nicks they are my go-to daily boots. I do everything in these boots work in my leather shop, wear to the office, mow the lawn, I am not hard on them but they hold up to work and dress up fine.
The Wickett & Craig Double Stuffed leather is one of the best leathers on the market. I am glad that I got these boots before Nicks found out what a hit this leather is and put a $150 surcharge on it. I wish I could buy it for my own projects. The patina is slow the leather is so resilient that the Patina didn’t start until year 2 but they get better every day. The leather is soft and easy to break-in but is tough and doesn’t scratch easily. For care all that I do is buff with bees wax. The color was pretty intense when I first got the boots but with time the have mellowed to a beautiful burgundy color.
The 55 last is the best fit for my foot. I have a high arch and need the support, Nicks builds the best arch support in the industry. I have even built a pair of shoes on a 55 last just because I like the shape. The toe box fits my foot perfectly, I don’t have toe spay but moderate volume in the toe area so the 55 last works good.
With the boots being MTO I had a lot of input into the design, and I bet I called Nicks help desk 5 or 6 times with changes. Customer service is very helpful and made all of the changes that I asked for. That’s what happens with a long wait time but they were patent with me and made all of my changes. The construction is very good, good construction leads to good durability and long lasting boots. Stitching and finishing is perfect.
Nicks boots rock. I think Nicks boots on a 55 last are some of the best looking boots on the market. I get compliments often when I wear them to the airport or other public places.
