Nicks Handmade Boots
Roadtripping with my wife from Arkansas to California to Washington and ultimately back home to Alaska these have seen quite the variety of conditions! 90⁰F to -50⁰F, bone dry to sopping wet and everything in between.
Weathershield is a phenomenal work leather. Hydrophobic and fast drying. It easily shrugs off all the elements. I barely even brushed these. One light application and later one heavy application of Obenauf's LP was all I did in the way of conditioning. They darkened and took on a decent shine depsite the lack of brushing and minimal conditioning. Break in was a little tougher than the '64 leathers I am accustomed to but overall not bad. Surprisingly breathable for a water resistant leather and as durable as anyone would expect from a 7-8oz work leather.
ThurmanNW will be my preference over the standard HNW going forward. It took a last I already had zero issues with and somehow made it even more comfortable. The minimal arch support and anatomical shape suite me and my style of movement perfectly.
These Nick's tactical tankers are a masterpiece. There is seriously no boot better suited to my wintertime needs. Highly water resistant and yet reasonably breathable. The Polarthin insulation is just enough to take the edge off the cold while still being lightweight and breathable enough for being indoors which is exactly what I need as I bounce between environements.
I already know I love the honey vibram. The single piece unit lug has been unsurprisingly wonderful. The exact blend of squish, tread, and durability that I need. The big perk of the unit lug over the standard two piece is that I haven't fought any heel stack delamination.
My love of the Nick's TankerPro platform continues. This custom pair from them delivers on my needs in spades. Elevating function, comfort, and durability beyond what I've come to expect now that I'm three pairs of tankers deep is no small feat and yet here I am; more in love than ever and looking to expand my tanker collection in a new direction
