Loved these, especially the Orange Predator leather

From working in the office to the shop, cemeteries, and even going out to dinner, these boots have done it all. Worn mostly in Middle Tennessee, where the climate can be slightly humid.

Break-in took a few weeks and they’ve only gotten more comfortable since. I brush them after every wear with a horsehair brush, especially working in dusty conditions, and use Bick 4 about once a month. The biggest change in the leather happened within the first month, it was the most noticeable shift in color and character. In the last month they picked up a few more scrapes from granite spalls after being at a rock camp

Overall I’ve been really happy with the fit. The only issue I’ve had is some heel slippage. These were an in-stock pair from Nicks, so I didn’t get to choose the last. I was able to make it work with thicker socks and heel pads. Aside from that, everything else about the fit and comfort has been great.

These have been great and have definitely lived up to the Nicks name. The construction and finishing have held up really well through regular wear. Prior to the start of the competition, I did have the shaft height modified to bring it down a bit.

I wasn’t sure how I would like the soles at first and was a little concerned about traction, but I’ve had no issues at all. The Vibram 705 has been solid for everyday use. The packer heels are a nice touch, I like the profile and the bit of height they add.

Going into my fourth Thunderdome, I had a pretty good idea of what I like and what I don’t, and this pair just felt right. They’ve kind of settled into themselves over time, the leather, the way they wear, everything about them feels more natural now than when they started. It’s been fun to watch them change and pick up character in a way that actually reflects what I do day to day. At this point I know what I’m looking for in a pair of boots, and these just fit into that really easily.
