I’ve taken these boots everywhere I’ve been for the past six months. I wore them nearly every day on a two-week trip around Japan, I’ve hiked in them across multiple states, and I’ve worn them to the office three or four days a week.
The Light Natural Dublin has been comfortable from the beginning. It was extremely soft out of the box and molded to my foot quickly. I’ve been impressed by how durable it is even though it’s so pliable; scuffs and scrapes blend in quickly, and the biggest change I’ve seen has just been the darkening of the leather from a light tan to an orange caramel.
The fit is excellent. I got these with a Nicks delta arch insole built in, so they have a higher arch than the regular 602 last but less of a pronounced arch than the 55 last. I also added a thin leather insole as the Dublin leather stretched because the boots were starting to feel too roomy. With the insole, the length and volume feel just right.
The construction and finishing are very good. The SPI of the welt stitching is noticeably higher than a pair of Nicks Roberts I got around a year earlier. The boots feel extremely sturdy in hand, and the clicking of the Dublin is excellent, with very tight grain break throughout.
Unsurprisingly, the full lug sole has been very durable, and the traction has been good even when hiking in wet conditions.
I got these boots in a slightly unusual build—a dressier last and leather with a full lug sole—in the hope that they could be go anywhere, do anything boots. I wanted boots that could be the only footwear I brought with me when I traveled and that could work in a restaurant or on a mountain hike. These boots have performed exactly as I hoped and are the most comfortable footwear I’ve ever owned. I’m looking forward to many more years with them.
