At the end of every work day I switched to this pair. As I’m reflecting on the past 6 months I can’t recall a true break in. This pair went from new to slipper status in a merely 2-3 weeks. The vast majority of its wear has been in a not performative manner., as I wanted to respect the non working category. Being how life throws us lemons, I made lemonade on the occasional weekend. I’ve walked miles upon miles through the woods with my kids, built a horse stable for the new pasture I put in.
Acorn cypress started with a yellow hue and through wear it’s darker like rust. It’s become like second skin once tied onto the foot. The wrinkles and rolls have become my favorite aspect to its aging process. The darker rusty notes start showing while still maintaining the preadolescent acorn color tones. As much as I say this pair or that pair is the most comfortable that’s a falsehood in comparison to this pair. Cypress has shown me that it’s capable of some of the toughest task, while allowing for your feet to breathe comfortably. The care for this pair has been just as loved as all my others. After every wear I brush with a horse hair brush. Since I didn’t do anything aggressive in this pair, that’s all that’s been needed for the majority of the time.
55 last I notice has minimum toe box room, yet that claim has been rendered false, in my opinion, if you have a Moc toe. The MocToe opens the toe box up ever so slightly allowing for more space vertically and horizontally. I went with my traditional size and it’s perfection. If you’re looking for a boot that you can look good at the store, yet fix a service repair Acorn Cypress is a must.
I designed this pair to provide me with the long craved Moc toe; with an arch that fits my body. I kept it simple and clean with my hardware. When it comes to durability I would wear this pair for any occasion or task. The construction is top notch and superior to anything I’ve ever owned.
The Vbar has been a game changer for my life style. I can walk out to the barn to feed the animals and I don’t have to worry about tracking dirt or debris as I go. At around 4 months of wearing this pair started to obtain a squeak with every step. This became obnoxious but through time and wear the squeak subsided. From walking on ice to walking on black top I had traction to do anything.
Strong and durable. The life line of this heel cap is fantastic as I feel I can’t my moneys worth in time and wear before it needs a new heel pad or repair.
After this journey I can honestly say this is the most comfortable pair I own. The skin like nature of the cypress leather and the comfort of a hand made boot is the perfect combination. Nicks did a fantastic job on building this pair. The craftsmanship is truly unmatched in my opinion. If you want a leather that breaths, is beautiful, durable to conquer house tasks while looking superb; a 55 last Moc Toe in a Cypress leather is a MUST have.
