This leather held up surprisingly well. Mud, water, grime, salt, snow etc did little to change the color. Sunlight had the strongest effect on the leather. Break in was fine the leather is fairly supple but I didn’t find it to stretch like many have said. These have been conditioned once with bick 4. Scratches buff out pretty well similar to CXL.

Ball Feels Misplaced

It’s a good last if you like that classic PNW arch support and want a wider toe box. Nicks arch seems a bit more tame than whites from my limited experience. I mis measured my brannock so I went a full size down. This meant I had to wear thin socks but with those it was quite comfortable. Instep was too tight with thick socks. I’d recommend half down.

Stitching

It’s a nice design for a very casual boot. Step up from red wing, step down from Viberg or dress shoe makers who are going to have cleaner stitching, tighter finishing, and less blemishes on the upper. The construction is top quality. These boots are tanks.

Sole & heel

Traction
Comfort

I really like the leather sole but feel they should use a thinner midsole on their casual boots. Out of the box it’s like a half inch or more of leather. It’s worn down quite a bit so the outer sole is more like 3-4mm now and the added flexibility is extremely comfortable. Grip is decent on almost all surfaces except things like polished concrete and wet artificial turf. Even on wet tile or grass they had plenty of grip.

Final thoughts

Overall it’s a great boot for a heritage workwear style. Not refined at all and a bit overbuilt for me in hindsight. I’d like a thinner sole, maybe a 5” or 4.5” shaft and just a lighter boot altogether. Not a huge fan of the arch support. Not painful but also just not necessary for me.
