Trench Boot
Elston Last
Elston Last: 9.5D
Huckberry
1st time participant. Was watching last year's contest and knew I wanted in. Bought these in February and have been patiently waiting since. Added a pair of Pisgah Range copperhead laces.
Recommendation from Oak Street website.
Ordered online had boots within a few days.
Have been used at work and all other activities. Living in a northern climate they've seen lots of mud, snow, and ice. Held up well in all conditions.
When new the boots had a pinkish tint. They have aged to a bronze brown color. They have aged well. The reverse horsehide had no care given to them, except for wiping off mud.
Got my normal boot size of 9.5. Could have gone with a half size down. The Elston last is wide and tall in the toes, which was comfortable.
Some of the leather was mismatched, one tongue was smooth leather the other was reverse. Didn't impact wear and nobody could notice under the laces, so not a big deal.
The Ridgeway sole didn't provide as much traction as I would have liked with our winter weather, but it was acceptable. The heel is pretty much wore down after 6 months of daily wear. I have a heavy heel strike so not really a surprise.
My photographic ability doesn't do these boots justice. They have aged better than expected.
