Red Wing Shoes
8-Inch Classic Moc
US Men's Brannock: 10

After 6 months they fit well! I will say the 877s are a more narrow boot compared to other boots I’ve owned. This was an issue at first but over time they “squished” enough to wear now they fit very well!

I’ve worn these boots at least 5 days a week for the last 6 months. They’ve truly been work horses in every environment. For work: I’m apart of the Ops team at my church fixing and building across 5 campuses with a congregation of 10k people. I used them for everything from ministry and weekend services to day to day maintenance and then new construction during our most recent build out. In leisure: I’ve hiked, played drums and done everything in between, they’ve remained flexible and capable with everything I’ve done I’m them.
Break in was mild, after a few weeks they started to fit like gloves and they continue to get better. They remain comfortable even after 12-15 hour days. Biggest change has definitely been the color. Honestly at the beginning I wasn’t a fan of the bright “orange” but now they have a nice patina that’s looks good dressed up or down.
Overall fit and comfort are good. There definitely a more narrow boot and I wouldn’t recommend for those with wider feet. Personally I prefer a wider toe box and that would be nice, I’d be curious to try more moc toes to see if they all run narrow.
I think the construction is good but could be better. Biggest thing construction wise I don’t like is the split between the upper of the toe box and the lower of the boot. It splits there instead of rolling over like a branded Moc toes, this allows the leather to split along that seem. Hasn’t created and functional issues merely just looks and I don’t prefer the split look there. Durability is very good and even in construction I’ve never damaged them beyond a few scratches.
I liked the wedge enough, definitely helped with the break in period and were nice on concrete. Durability was fair though they are starting to get pretty worn in spots. Overall comfortable and durable, but I don’t plan on returning to the wedges on my next resole.
Overall good, there wore don more than I would have hoped. Definitely very comfortable.
Overall I’d highly recommend the Redwing 877 heritage Mocs. They served as a good gateway into high quality stitch down boots, coming in at about half the cost of offer brands. However, I do think it would be interesting to compare them to small companies with more primo boots than redwings, as there have been Subtle things that I hope would be better in pricier boots. Final thoughts: I’ve loved every step in these boots and would recommend them to anyone. I’m looking forward to the next pre-worn dome this fall. In the meantime some changes will be happening to keep these boots going for the next 1,000 miles!
