I purchased these as an office to field boot after experiencing the Stow boot quality of Tricker’s Sienna Scotch grain boots. These black, muflone leather Stow boots have traditional and unbeatable style. Truly the gentleman’s choice. Always the topic of discussion at activities and events. People are drawn to these joints and always ask where I got such nice boots. I now have Tricker’s Stow boots in 7 different leathers. As a “boot guy” these are simply the best and my go to pair for high performance. These boots ooze sophistication and confidence.
Tricker’s gives great sizing advice on their website. In the Stow in the 4497 last I size up to a UK 8 (equivalent of US 9) in a standard 5 (equivalent of US D width) fitting on the 4497 last. I’m an 8.5E on the brannock and the UK 8 fits perfect with thick field socks. Thin socks work too but I enjoy a snug fit.
Ordering is SUPER easy from the Tricker’s website and payment is protected with “Shop”. I was confident in ordering and had no doubts with the payment security. I have ordered 18 pairs of Tricker’s and ALWAYS gotten delivery to my doorstep in 72 hours. Communicate with the sales staff before ordering because returns can be expensive. The sales staff knows their trade and are experts at talking you through the measurement process. Tricker’s is simply the BEST of the best of the Northampton shoe makers. And I have experience with them all. A royal salute To Tricker’s.
Worn hard in the woods, cleaned up and worn with a business suit for meetings in the Pentagon. This boot does it all, and does it well.
Absolutely NO break in. Exceptionally supple but definitely not lacking in durability. Two years of wear from the woods to the boardroom and these boots are better than ever. They literally look better with every wear. Simple horse hair brushing and Venitian Shoe Crème and these boots are ready for business.
4497 last is form fitting in the heel and has great room across the hall of the foot. Overall the boot wears like a tennis shoe and provides great ankle support when needed. I’m an US 8.5E on the Brannock and always get the UK 8 on the 4497 last. All my Trickers are standard 5 fitting in width. There are 6 fittings for wider feet but that results in a wider heel as well as ball, so I stick with the UK 8 in a 5 fitting in the 4497 last.
100 year old design and STILL the reigning champion As the “gentleman’s” boot. Immaculate finishing with uniform stitching and expert clicking. I appreciate the fact that there are 7 rows of eyelets with NO speedhooks. True to military construction the eyelets re the fastest way in and out of your boots. Place small knots at the ends of the laces and they stay in the eyelets. Makes for fast cinching and is actually faster than speed hooks. The laces are unwaxed round cotton from Tricker’s. There foot bed is veg tanned leather with a small bit of glove rather lining over the heel with the company logo and His Majesty’s royal warrant.
My favorite office sole and light duty in the woods. Great traction and superb comfort. Genuine Dainite is always worth the extra cost.
Comfortable, secure, long wearing and dependable.
Muflone leather is extremely supple but incredibly durable and remarkably water resistant. I wear Tricker’s black and acorn muflone Stow boots to shoot Steel Challenge twice a week and run Parks on the Air activations in the Florida woods every weekend. These country boots take all the wet and dirty jobs and just keep getting better and more comfortable. No wonder why these are the original and still the BEST. Actually a bargain at $800 USD when considering cost per wear, year after year.
