These boots carried me through taking my 9-month-old trick-or-treating in leaf piles, stroller walks on snowy, salted streets, and running up and down stairs chasing a now-25-lb toddler. They endured milk stains, rainstorms, and grocery runs. They kept me toasty through winter and overheated on these recent spring days.
The interior took more of a beating than the exterior. It started cushy and tight, but now they are easy to slip into with the shearling all matted down and flat. The exterior has held its shape around the edges, but the front of the toe box shows distinct creases from my walking pattern. Overall, I was surprised by how little wear and tear they’ve taken on (aside from self-inflicted stains). Despite being a fast-fashion shoe, it seems like I can get many more seasons out of them.
I have no complaints about the craftsmanship, but there’s nothing to write home about either. Uggs are mass-produced and have zero artistry. With that said, mass production brings a level of expertise through repetition. These are constructed without faults—no loose threads or glue where it shouldn’t be seen. While I didn’t put these through the ringer to test the limits of durability, that’s not the intention of this casual boot. The craftsmanship suits the intended purpose and price point just fine.
It’s a flat, unsupportive EVA sole. I’ve had Uggs in the past that wore down in high-pressure areas, but with only six months of wear these are still fully intact. I’m experiencing slightly more flex while walking, which is actually quite comfortable and welcomed after how stiff and unforgivingly clunky they were to begin with.
These are my sixth pair of Uggs. I like to wear Uggs to their death, all ripped, saggy, and sad, but I’ve never paid attention to how many seasons that actually takes. I was anticipating ending the thunderdome with boots that looked like a weathered old man with a story to tell, but I’m pleased that there’s still plenty of life left in them. For a fast-fashion winter comfort shoe intended for mall crawling, they really fit the bill.
