I really loves the nubuck nature/texture of the Port Vitello series from Maryam. I've owned a lot of Horsebutt from them but never a calf, and these looked perfect for long term patina. The BCT made them perfect for work too, so they were an easy choice.
I measured my brannock, which is 9.5C HTT/9HTB and consulted some friends. I tried both size 9E and 8.5E on the 2030 last and 8.5 is way better for my foot since it's low volume. Most importantly, the ball lines up at the widest part of the shoe so it also creases evenly.
Super easy thanks to the Viberg Sample Sale process on WhatsApp.
I first used this boot only for work since it's a nice color, goes well with chinos and has a relatively formal style thanks to the BCT. I also really loved that it didn't crease too much. After a few months of use I started using it for every occasion, whether it was going to work or just walking to dog. The big change came when I decided to take this boot on my vacation to Africa, where I wore it very rough for 3 weeks (alternated with another boot). The sun, the mud, and the sweat blended to really push the boot towards a cool patina, which I love. I've since cleaned and conditioned it and it looks phenomenal.
The leather has darkened a lot in the sun but it's still quite light. I love that it creases so little and so beautifully. I would buy this again in a heartbeat if it was available again. It's also so easy to care for - just needs a thorough brush.
The 2030 is my favorite last of all time. It fits my foot perfectly. In 8.5, I don't feel squeezed anywhere nor is there too much volume that I feel I'm swimming - it's just perfect. That made the break-in easy and comfortable, and the comfort made these my most worn pair of shoes. This is really a stunning last and leather combo.
These are beautiful boots. They were seconds because there was a stain on the toe, but that disappeared with regular use. Otherwise the stitching and finish is absolutely perfect. It feels sturdy and feel like it was made for war rather than casual wear.
Sole feels good in most use conditions but can slip on smooth surfaces (like concrete) during rainy weather.
I have a large collection of boots but these are by far my most worn and most loved pair. For the price, they're ridiculous value. Even at twice to cost they'd be worth it.
