Recieved, 31. March. Review 4th May. I’ve been wearing my White’s Boots CMP-Sherman Toscanello Horse Hide for about a month now. Usually one day a week with around 10’000 steps walking (train and bike commute, my, office. plus a half day per week with about 4'000 steps. Mostly casual and light outdoor use. They’re holding up well but still breaking in.
The Maryam Toscanello Horse Hide leather is stunning. The color is deep and rich, making it beautiful and unique. I hope it softens nicely with wear while still feeling tough and durable. It wasn't my first choice, but when I received a good offer, I decided to go for it. I'm very happy that I did. They look gorgeous in their light milk chocolate brown color.
The fit is still somewhat uncomfortable. The heavy-duty vamp stitches, where they connect to the upper, create pressure on the sides of my feet. Additionally, the instep feels tight, making it difficult and painful to walk up and down stairs. There's also a pressure point where the gusseted tongue meets my foot. I followed the Reddit and Bootlosophy recommendations to size down in length but up in width. They are an 8.5E. **My examples:** **Red wing Beckman US9D:** Feels a tad long but good in width and almost good at the heel. **Huckb. RANCOURT Wolf Boot US8.5D:** length good, but too narrow at the ball of the foot. Comfortable Vibram® Honey Lug Sole - Is anybody interested (Europe)? **Huckb. Rhodes Chelsea US9.5D **(I went tts): The boot is too long and narrow, but it is loose on the heel. **Trickers dress shoes UK 8.5:** width good, but a tad too long **Viberg Waxy commander Scout boot stamped 8:** Too narrow, too short, sold them straight after trying **White's MP 8.5E: **Good, but a bit narrow at the instep **Astorflex Chelsea: EU 41** became too small in the last year. I will probably order their EU 42 or the Meermin Chelsea, Rod last in UK8, EU42, US9)
The boots look well-crafted and feel substantial. When I tie them up, they give me a good, secure, grounded feeling. Initially, the commando soles seemed a bit off-center, causing a stitch to hang in the air. However, that issue resolved itself after the first two weeks. The rivets and hooks are not covered, which causes them to scratch the tongue. I mean who cares about that but I was surprised that actually is a thing and not taken care of, especially as the rest of the boot is crafted well!
The Vibram sole grips well and appears durable so far. It handles different surfaces without issue. However, I am concerned about the off-center sole and loose threads. Should I worry about long-term wear?
So far so good
These White’s CMP-Sherman boots have great leather and a stunning look. But the fit issues and some craftsmanship details hold them back from being fully comfortable right now. Hopefully, more wear will soften the leather and ease the pressure points. If you don’t mind some break-in discomfort, they’re worth considering. Just watch out for those rivets and sole alignment. For the price I paid, the stylish boots I got and the substantial build, I would buy them again!
