This was my best looking, best spec everyday use pair. Treaded Metro Manila and traveling to my home city, Iloilo City down south. Went through a few thunderstorms and muddy situations. But about an equal mix of city and country trail.
This was the first time using this leather. I have experienced Maryam Horsebutt but never the reverse kind. This was honestly the toughest break-in because of the thickness of the leather and the sole choice of having a double midsole (half) by the ball, restricting the flexibility even further. It took about a good month of everyday wear to really feel the uppers move, and the soles took about 3 months. They gradually got better and better over time and by month 5, I probably hit the peak comfort point. As for care, just regular wiping and brushing, saphir suede shampoo and saphir renovateur spray after it got muddy and dirty.
After multiple pairs from Willie, he's nailed my fit perfectly. That said, his was my first time using the S2 last. I love how his snugly fits the ball while having a lot of toe room. The heel fit is awesome and zero heel slip from day one. He put in the custom arch support height I always request so I can wear these all day.
Zero complaints as always. Stitching is clean and flawless. Clicking was amazing. I got the colors of the peeking shell cordovan around the toes and the fuzzy parts by my ankles. I love the curved top as well.
I love this sole. This is the second time I've used them. They're very flexible. I chose this because I needed the most flexible kind to balance out the heft and stiffness of the double midsole. Very durable and great traction.
I chose the full lug heel to get more cushion on the heel while adding more grip and traction. Awesome experience.
This has been the best Thunderdome experience so far. The past builds, have been designed with the thought of how it will age and really thought out how to make it look good by natural means like leaving out in the sun, ect. This time, I wanted to wear what I wanted my ultimate work boot design to look like. Comfortable, double midsole to chase the deep dip of the footbed, reverse horsehide for extra abrasion resistance than the smooth side and a new patina experience for me, the perfect shades of brown playing together, 3 "nice boots" and 4 positive "what are those?!?" reactions from strangers, easy pairing with my wardrobe, and I catch myself staring and admiring these boots often.
