I wore these to do everything in my life, from light hiking to walking in extreme weathers of wet, hot, humid and dry (Australia, baby) and they held up fairly well.
Given that the stitching and midsole are waxed when received, these keep everything below the ankle fairly dry in rain and puddles.
Sand, dirt and small rocks stay out for the most part, and they wouldn't be able to get in at all had I gotten my right size.

I teach in the sciences, so they have seen office wear, wear in the laboratory as well as in the classroom. I attempt to have 10 000 steps daily, and I’m blessed to live in a location with lots of outdoor trails, so they have seen many miles of hiking. I’ve also used them for working around the house, gardening, and yard care. The boots clean up with a little brushing so well that I can still easily dress them up for more formal occasions in trousers and dress shirts. These are little perfect all-arounders!
We had a mild winter this year, so I didn’t get to test these in very wet, snowy, or icy conditions as I would have liked. Other than that, they have risen to every challenge I could throw at them.
I wore these nearly 8 hours a day on average for 133 days, just under 75% of possible days in the Dome. I took 934,000 steps, constituting 342 miles walked...."Read the full review

Dominantly, that’s about 40hrs a week at the shop. Everything from glueing to trimming on customer’s shoes (standing), to altering leather garments (sitting while sewing), and maintaining all of our machines (crawling around!).
Beyond work, I’ve been wearing them on walks, errands, seeing family and friends and driving (but just the left boot for that! 😅).
Vancouver had an uncharacteristically dry winter season. It felt especially noticeable this year as we have a constant visual reminder (as we can see the ski hills from the city). Beyond the rain, my pair hasn’t seen any snow yet! This felt like a stark contrast from my first year competing (y1), where my boots saw a lot of inclement conditions!
Finally, I’ve found them unbearably warm with any slightly thicker socks, but I’m on my feet and moving most of the day...."Read the full review

I would say a majority of the time were in the office or in a non-challenging situation. However, there were times I needed to be in the field to assist a team of surveyors in the rain and mud. They really are like wearing covers for my feet by maintaining the comfort of being barefoot at home but everywhere I go. They have molded quite nicely to my daily life. I'm a dad. I take my 6 year olds to school, after school events, after school sport activities and weekend sport activities. I work in the city. I commute from the suburbs. I travel sometimes for work and for play. These "Great Escapes" have been a perfect travel companion to either throw in my bag or wear on the plane, train or in the car when I travel. I stuck to 4-5 days a week for these. I probably should have been in the open dome instead of the work dome since I ride a desk more than anything.
