Taylor Stitch is a men's lifestyle brand headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company was established in 2008. Taylor Stitch produces apparel intended for use in both urban and outdoor environments.
Taylor Stitch was founded in 2008 by Michael Maher, Barrett Purdum, and Mike Armenta. The business began with a focus on custom shirts. In subsequent years, Taylor Stitch expanded its offering to include a broader range of men's clothing. In 2011, Taylor Stitch opened its first physical store on Valencia Street in San Francisco, following the receipt of a $50,000 loan from Working Solutions.
Taylor Stitch works with manufacturing partners in multiple countries to produce its clothing. The brand operates Hubo, its own factory, which employs 80 sewing machine operators. Hubo pays its workers living wages and includes benefits such as maternity leave. Taylor Stitch also manufactures garments through partners including Golden Bear Sportswear in the United States and Dante in Mexico.
Taylor Stitch uses a variety of sustainable materials in its apparel. More than 90% of the company's fabrics are certified as preferred, with GOTS-certified organic cotton being the most common. Additional materials include linen, leather certified by the Leather Working Group, Responsible Wool Standard-certified merino wool, and hemp. The company uses recycled fibers, such as upcycled cotton and recycled polyester, in its Heavy Bag collection, which undergoes a manufacturing process that requires no water.
Taylor Stitch produces men's clothing such as shirts, outerwear, bottoms, knitwear, denim, footwear, and accessories. The company operates a crowdfunding model called the Workshop. Through this platform, new products launch weekly for pre-sale. The Workshop allows customers to place orders ahead of production, providing feedback that informs design and helps limit overproduction and excess inventory.
