History
Tecovas was founded by Paul Hedrick in 2015. Hedrick created the company after finding it difficult to buy cowboy boots while living in New York. Tecovas began as an online retailer and opened its first physical store in Austin in 2019.
Manufacturing
Tecovas boots are designed in Austin, Texas, and manufactured in León, Mexico. León is known for its leatherworking industry. Artisans in León produce the boots using traditional bootmaking techniques.
Construction and materials
Tecovas uses custom-tanned leathers for its boots. Boot construction includes Goodyear welt techniques and involves hand-hammered lemonwood pegs. Decorative cording and stitching on quarters are completed by hand.
