The boot is a variant of the 1000 Mile Plain-Toe Boot and maintains the heritage characteristics that made the original 1914 design legendary while incorporating modern performance features.

The Evans Boot draws its lineage from the original 1000 Mile Shoe introduced by Wolverine in 1914, which promised to give wearers 1000 miles of wear. The modern Evans model was recreated from Wolverine's archival 1914 1000 Mile pattern, preserving the timeless design that has remained central to the company's US-made collection.

Wolverine was founded in 1883 by G.A. Krause in Rockford, Michigan, originally as a small leather tannery. By 1903, the company was producing 300 boots a day in their new factory, and by 1914, the Wolverine brand name was chosen for shoes made of Wolverine horsehide leather. The original 1000 Mile boots were crafted from horsehide for farmers and logging industry workers, with workers appreciating the soft, long-lasting shell horsehide leather.

The Evans Boot features time-tested Goodyear welt construction that is durable, flexible, and allows the boot to be resoled for years of wear. This traditional construction method binds the boot together with a 360-degree Goodyear welt, ensuring longevity and repairability.

The upper is constructed from full-grain leather sourced from the famed Horween Leather Company in Chicago, Illinois. This premium leather comes in Black Leather and Havana Brown options, both utilizing Horween's renowned Chromexcel leather. Chromexcel has a rich history, having been used on engine seals in World War I, and is jam-packed with oils and waxes, including beeswax and beef tallow, which make it very water-resistant and long-lasting.

The outsole consists of a stacked leather construction equipped with a Vibram lug forepart and heel for reliable traction. This combination provides the classic leather outsole aesthetic while incorporating modern rubber components for improved grip and durability. The boot features flat waxed cotton laces from Landrum, South Carolina, maintaining authentic heritage details throughout the construction.
