WM. Moorby

The WM. Moorby boots are handcrafted in Canada and feature full leather construction with Vibram outsoles. All boots in the line use premium grade leather uppers with full leather lining and leather cushioned insoles.

The original Canada West Shoe Manufacturing Company began production in Winnipeg in 1931 and operated until 1959. In 1978, William (Bill) Moorby and partners revived the brand by purchasing manufacturing equipment and obtaining rights to the Canada West name from the original founder's family. The WM. Moorby Signature Series was developed as the heritage lineup, honoring the company's co-founder. Graham Moorby, a third-generation shoemaker, recently took over leadership from his father Ted, who served as president for over 15 years.

WM. Moorby boots feature Goodyear welt construction, which attaches the upper and sole components through stitching rather than adhesives. All boots use premium grade leather uppers with full leather lining and leather cushioned insoles. The welts are made from genuine leather. The outsoles are Vibram 430 rubber, which provides grip on various surfaces.

The boots are water-resistant and resoleable due to the Goodyear welt construction. The production facility has continuously manufactured footwear at the same Winnipeg location for over 45 years, with over 50 employees as of 2023.

The WM. Moorby line offers three last options. The E last (number 805) has an almond-shaped toe and is used for four models including service boots, postman shoes, and oxfords. The EE last (number 471) features a round toe and is used for six models, all of which are lace-up boots. The EEE last (number 9367) also has a round toe but with a higher profile toe box, used for six models including hikers, lace-to-toe boots, chukkas, and Blacksmith-style lace-ups.

Boots are available in sizes six through 13 and fit true to size.

Model 2801 features 6-inch Pecan Tumbled leather quarters and is handcrafted to exacting standards in Winnipeg from premium grade leather. The model includes nine eyelet lace-up fastening, round toe design, leather cushioned insoles, and Vibram outsoles. The boots are priced at $395 CAD as of 2026.

Model 2817 features a round cap toe design with nine eyelet lace-up fastening and Goodyear welt construction. The boots use Vibram outsoles and are built on the 471 last. The retail price is $395 CAD as of 2026.

Other model variations in the WM. Moorby line include models 2814, 2816, 2855, and 2856. The company's 2023 product portfolio included 19 new styles and five new leather colors across four product categories: work boots, casual boots, western boots, and dress shoes.

Models 2801 and 2817 are priced at $395 CAD as of 2026. The construction methods and materials used feature premium grade leather uppers with Goodyear welt construction and Vibram outsoles. Distribution occurs through a retailer network across Canada plus a factory outlet store in Winnipeg.
