Bordeaux Oiled Shoulder is a burgundy brown colorway of Classic Oiled Shoulder leather produced by C.F. Stead exclusively for Tricker's. The leather features a fully-aniline, waxed finish that retains the natural appearance and grain characteristics while developing a deep pull-up effect and patina over time.
As part of the Classic Oiled Shoulder range, Bordeaux combines the rich, dark red burgundy color with the mellow full grain tannage characteristic of this leather type. The exclusive colorway has been featured in collaboration collections between Tricker's and Division Road, appearing on the Stow Boot model.
The Bordeaux colorway utilizes the shoulder portion of full-weight steer hides, which provides a tight and pliable grain structure. The hides are tanned in the UK by C.F. Stead using a fully-aniline process that preserves the natural feel and grain characteristics of the leather.
During production, the hides are stuffed with high oil and fat content before being aniline dyed to achieve the distinctive burgundy brown tone. The leather then receives a waxed finish that enhances durability while allowing for the development of a deep pull-up effect as the leather flexes and ages.
The technical specifications match those of other Classic Oiled Shoulder leathers, with an average skin size of 10-12 square feet and a thickness of 1.8-2.0mm. The full grain tannage creates a casual appearance with the classic pull-up effect that characterizes this leather type.
Bordeaux represents a richly-hued dark red leather color within the burgundy family. The color combines red and brown tones to create a burgundy brown appearance that distinguishes it from other Classic Oiled Shoulder colorways.
The aniline dyeing process retains the natural variations in the hide, allowing the Bordeaux color to display subtle tonal differences across the leather surface. This contributes to the unique character of each hide and the distinctive patina that develops with wear.
The Bordeaux Oiled Shoulder leather has been used in exclusive collaborations between Tricker's and Division Road. The leather appears on the Stow Boot model constructed on the w2298 last, paired with a Dainite sole and featuring tonal dark brown eyelets.
The boots incorporate a natural leather Barbour storm welt and midsole, which complement the burgundy brown upper. The construction follows Goodyear welt methods, allowing the boots to be resoled while maintaining the integrity of the leather upper.
