Breaking in of my Coach Ramblers was very simple I just had to lace them loosely for a week and then start tightening the lace’s a little at a time. The leather has faired well, one mishap working I stubbed my poor boot toe on something sharp oh no. I thought I had ruined my boot. I repaired the boot with CA glue, it worked but left a scar on the toe of my left boot (we all get scars with age). I knew from the start that Coach Rambler was going to be a hard leather to get a good patina on so I started brushing them nightly as I sat in a hotel room with nothing to do but watch TV. After a while I noticed that the nap was waring off of the toe and getting smoother. As rainy season came in I started using some bees wax to protect the mid sole and toe of the boots this along with daily brushing really brought the highlights out in the leather. In late January my boots were looking dry so I did a Back 4 treatment I was worried that I had ruined the boots (they turned red) I am glad this evened out in a couple of weeks.
I have struggled with the photography I don’t know much about photography. I am the sort that just takes pictures and try not to cut the heads off of the people in the picture. Using my iPhone 12 I started snapping shots not understanding the leather so I shot my submission shot indoors with just living room lamps for light. the pictures were not very good at one point I kept noticing how much better the leather looked in the sunlight the colors really popped so I stared experimenting with bright sunlight photos and wow the color finally stared to look in the pictures like I was seeing on my feet. Last week I was taking some pictures in the sunshine for the final shots and I posted a couple on discord and asked for advice Arron Huber suggested that I shot on an overcast day to cut out the shine spot’s I followed his advice and I think I have captured the boot with all of the patina showing up. I hope I did well on my first Thunderdome with a notorious hard leather to get patina on...."Read the full review
