The Larry Lace-Up Boot is a brogued cap-toe service boot manufactured by Christian Daniel. The boot is handmade by skilled artisans in León, Mexico and features 270-degree stitchdown construction with vegetable tanned leather from Wickett & Craig Tannery. The Larry is available with either 270° stitchdown or flat welted construction in Russet and Buck Brown colorways, with a limited-run Burgundy version.
Christian Daniel produces each pair through over 200 individual steps requiring more than 100 hours of labor per pair. The company manufactures boots in a small workshop in León, Mexico's bootmaking capital, where the craft has been passed from generation to generation since the mid-1600s.
The Larry features 270 stitchdown construction, a double-row construction method that attaches the uppers to the boot's outsole. The boot is built on Last 11/18 and includes a vegetable tanned leather insole and midsole. A steel shank provides structural support, while the outsole uses Vibram's studded Eton pattern. The construction allows the boots to be completely resoled.
The upper leather is Russet vegetable tanned harness leather sourced from Wickett & Craig Tannery. Thin round cord waxed laces from Guarded Goods complete the boot. The midsole leather comes from LeFarc, Mexico's most sustainable tannery, which partners with Christian Daniel for ethically sourced, gold-rated leather.
The boots use vegetable tanned harness leather from Wickett & Craig Tannery in the Russet colorway. Christian Daniel also sources upper leather from LeFarc, a Mexican tanning operation that produces combo-tanned Albatros leather. This leather undergoes chrome tanning first, followed by a chrome and vegetable re-tan process, resulting in a wax-finished leather with pull-up characteristics.
Both the insole and midsole are made from vegetable tanned leather. The midsole leather specifically comes from LeFarc, which has been recognized with gold certification from the Leather Working Group for its sustainable practices.
Christian Daniel manufactures the Larry Lace-Up Boot in León, located in Guanajuato, Mexico. León is considered the bootmaking capital of the world and the unofficial footwear capital of North America, producing more shoes annually than any other city on the continent. The city's bootmaking history dates to the mid-1600s, with the earliest footwear reports from 1645. Today, León is home to approximately 3,000 shoe manufacturers and some of the world's most skilled cobblers.
All Christian Daniel artisans are full-time employees who receive full benefits, a living wage, and safe working conditions. The company emphasizes ethical manufacturing practices and sustainable sourcing partnerships.
The Larry Lace-Up Boot runs a half size down from Brannock sizing. For example, someone who typically wears a size 10.5 in sneakers would order a size 10 D in the Larry boot.
