Christian Daniel

Christian Daniel was founded by Christian Daniel Ramos. Ramos grew up in San Francisco and is a first-generation Mexican American. The founder cites inspiration from his father's interest in Mexican-style cowboy boots and his aunt's experience in shoe manufacturing in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The brand initiated a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in July 2022 to support boot production. The campaign concluded with $25,363 raised from 76 backers, surpassing the target goal of $24,000.

Christian Daniel states that its boots are handcrafted by full-time artisans in Mexico. The production involves more than 200 steps and over 100 hours of labor per pair. The company reports partnerships with gold-rated tanneries. Artisans employed in production are described as receiving full benefits and wages that meet established living standards.

Christian Daniel boots use Goodyear welt construction in their design. This method involves stitching the insole, upper, and welt together and then affixing them to the outsole. The midsoles consist of vegetable-tanned leather, sourced from the LeFarc tannery in Mexico.

Christian Daniel produces boots made with full-grain leather and employs traditional techniques in each pair. The company reports that each product is handmade, resulting in some variation between individual pairs. The range includes the Larry Lace Up Boot and the Fernando Chelsea.
