The Coniston is an eight-eyelet derby boot manufactured by Crockett & Jones since 1995. Built on the 325 last with a straight toe cap design, the Coniston features Goodyear welted construction with a storm welt for water resistance and has remained one of the British manufacturer's longest-serving and best-selling boot styles. The boot is available in multiple leather options including tan scotch grain, dark brown scotch grain, and rough-out suede variants.
The Coniston is constructed as a higher-leg fully lined derby boot with eight eyelets, combining speed hooks with a straight toe cap design. The boot uses Goodyear welted construction with a storm welt that provides improved water resistance, complemented by a gusseted tongue that further enhances waterproofing capabilities. The boots are fitted with Dainite rubber soles made in England, providing grip and durability.
Crockett & Jones manufactures the Coniston from European calf skins treated with a special tannage process. The scotch grain leather option features a distinctive print pattern that originated in the 1920s, creating the characteristic pebbled texture. The fully lined construction extends throughout the interior of the boot.
The Coniston is built on the 325 last, which was first produced in March 1995. This last features a medium-round toe shape with increased toe depth, providing what Crockett & Jones describes as a quintessentially English profile. The 325 last offers plenty of room in the fore-part and fits true to size according to UK sizing standards.
The Coniston has established itself as an all-time bestseller within the Crockett & Jones lineup. Long-term wearers have reported boots that improve with age, with documented wear extending beyond 15 years. The model represents one of the company's longest-serving boot designs.
