The Camp Chukka is a handsewn chukka boot manufactured by Easymoc, combining traditional moccasin construction with modern comfort features. Made in very small batches in Lewiston, Maine, each boot is individually handsewn by craftsmen with decades of traditional moccasin-making experience. The Camp Chukka uses Trail Crazy Horse Pull Up Leather that develops a distinctive patina with age, mounted on a Vibram Camp sole with Ortholite foam footbeds for comfort.
The Camp Chukka employs Blake-McKay construction, with each boot fully handsewn by traditional moccasin craftsmen. Unlike mass-produced footwear, the handsewing is achieved entirely by eye and muscle memory, without guides or pre-punched holes. This traditional approach, preserved by a small team in Lewiston, Maine, results in genuine handcrafted construction. The resoleable construction allows for extended wear life through professional resoling when the outsole eventually wears down.
The upper leather is Trail Crazy Horse Pull Up Leather, a full-grain leather that develops patina with age and wear. This leather is tanned at Seidel Tanning in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Leather laces are sourced from Mississippi, while the adhesives used in construction come from Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The footbed consists of Comfort Hybrid Ortholite Foam, providing cushioning and support. The outsole is a Vibram Camp sole, designed for traction and durability. All components are sourced from manufacturers within the United States.
Easymoc manufactures the Camp Chukka in a small workshop in Lewiston, Maine. Production occurs in very small batches, with each boot handsewn one at a time. The company was founded by Greg Cordeiro in 2020, who came to Maine to learn traditional shoe manufacturing skills.
The emphasis on traditional craftsmanship and domestic manufacturing reflects the company's focus on preserving heritage footwear construction methods.
The Camp Chukka retails for $270.00. The boot fits true to size according to retailer specifications.
