By lee.goodson • April 4, 2026"It’s important to realize that I LOVE CXL. Navy VXL may be my favorite leather. So I am biased. I feel like the break in time was minimal. I was able to wear them all day 12+ hours of wear (mostly standing) immediately. There was some initial soreness, as with any new shoes, but it was manageable. Navy CXL ages amazingly. It gains a rich depth over time, like looking into deep but clear water. There are layers to the color. It scuffs nicely. And it bounces back with very little work, a little leather cream and they look great. The shift in color over time isn’t drastic, it’s more subtle you notice the change, they seem to glow a little, but you will always see a pair of blue boots.
