About

The Chelsea Boot is a collection of slip-on ankle boots produced by Nisolo, offered in multiple models including the Marco Everyday, Go-To Chelsea Boot 2.0, Eva Everyday, and Ana Go-To Heeled versions. These boots feature elastic side panels and leather pull tabs, with most models incorporating memory foam insoles and water-resistant leather uppers sourced from Leather Working Group Certified tanneries.

Nisolo's Chelsea boot line emphasizes comfort-oriented construction with features like five-layer memory foam insoles, lightweight EVA outsoles, and soft leather linings. The Marco Everyday Chelsea Boot, originally priced at $268, currently retails for $129, while the Go-To Chelsea Boot 2.0 has been reduced from $250 to $99. All models are handmade from genuine leather at production facilities formerly located in Peru and Mexico.

Product line overview

Nisolo offers five Chelsea boot models: the Marco Everyday, Go-To Chelsea Boot 2.0, Eva Everyday, Ana Go-To Healed, and All-Weather Chelsea Boot. The Marco Everyday Chelsea Boot features a 1-inch heel height, cushioned memory foam insole, subtle rubber lug sole, elastic side panels, and leather pull tab. Available in sizes eight through 13 including half sizes, the Marco uses soft leather construction with water-resistant leather uppers in brown versions.

The Go-To Chelsea Boot 2.0 incorporates an XL Extralight EVA treaded outsole and weighs 356.6 grams in size eight, approximately half the weight of a typical leather chore boot. The Eva Everyday serves as the women's version, while the Ana Go-To Healed Chelsea Boot features a 2.5-inch heel height with a durable rubber lug outsole and soft interior leather lining.

As of 2025, pricing reflects substantial reductions from original retail. The Marco Everyday Chelsea Boot is priced at $129, reduced from $268, representing a 52 percent discount. The Go-To Chelsea Boot 2.0 retails for $99, reduced from $250, while the Eva Everyday is priced at $99, reduced from $228.

Materials and construction

The Chelsea boot line uses leather uppers sourced from Leather Working Group Certified tanneries, with 95 percent of leather uppers meeting this certification standard. The company uses leather byproducts from the meat industry rather than new animal hides. Some models feature vegetable-tanned leather for soles, which uses a chemical-free tanning process.

The Go-To Chelsea Boot 2.0 features waterproof, breathable leather uppers combined with cushioned Extralite EVA outsoles and soft leather lining that molds to the foot over time. All boots in the line are handmade from genuine leather and include elastic side panels as a defining characteristic of the Chelsea boot style.

Comfort technology

Select models incorporate a five-layer insole system designed for comfort and support. The top layer consists of breathable, soft leather. The second layer uses open-cell Terry Foam, which provides lightweight support. The third layer contains a full layer of memory foam with built-in arch support. The fourth layer features structured Dynamic Foam heel made of 100 percent recycled EVA. This layered construction molds to the shape of the foot over time.

The Marco Everyday Chelsea Boot uses a cushioned memory foam insole combined with a subtle rubber lug sole for grip and traction. The Ana Go-To Heeled Chelsea Boot specifically features the five-layer memory foam insole system to provide comfort despite the 2.5-inch heel height.

Manufacturing background

Production occurred at facilities in Peru and Mexico. In Peru, where shoemaking traditions have been passed down for generations, the factory served as the primary production location. Thirty percent of production took place at a partner factory in Mexico, where workers earned a minimum of 14 percent beyond the living wage for a single individual. A financial literacy training program at the Mexico facility increased the percentage of workers with bank accounts from 10 percent to 100 percent.

The Peru factory closed in July 2024, with factory workers receiving termination paperwork two weeks before closure. According to Peruvian law, workers were owed 1.5 times their monthly salary for every year worked, though many workers were not paid the promised severance.

Company context

Nisolo was founded in 2011 by Patrick Woodyard in Nashville and generated over $30 million in revenue in 2022. The brand held B Corporation certification and received a Gold rating from Eco-Stylist before financial difficulties. The company operated under a sustainability-focused business model, implementing eco-friendly waste disposal systems and establishing a carbon offset partnership with EcoSphere+ to protect Amazon forests. Nisolo also ran a Shoe Reclamation Program through a partnership with Soles4Souls, offering $30 store credit for donated shoes.

In January 2025, lenders forced Nisolo into foreclosure due to overwhelming debt. The brand is owned as of 2025 by Project Bound, led by a former Kate Spade executive. Following the foreclosure, B Corporation certification was removed from the directory, and Eco-Stylist reclassified the brand to "Brands to Avoid" as of September 2025.
