The Chambord is a derby shoe manufactured by Paraboot since 1987. Named after Château de Chambord in France's Loire Valley, the Chambord quickly became one of the company's most successful city shoes. The shoe features a U-tip derby design with distinctive 45-degree stitching on the apron, a characteristic unique to Paraboot models.
The Chambord features a five-eyelet derby construction with a smooth leather upper and pinched upper design. The shoe is distinguished by its golf toe pattern with 45-degree stitching across the apron, a design element exclusive to Paraboot footwear. The Chambord is the only model in the company's collection with a non-serrated sole.
The Chambord is built using Norwegian welt construction, which provides waterproof strength and durability by stitching the upper to a welt that is then stitched to the sole. Each pair requires 150 manual operations to complete. The shoe uses a natural rubber sole made from Para-Tex rubber, the same material Paraboot has manufactured in-house since 1927. The construction method makes the Chambord particularly suitable for narrow feet.
The upper is crafted from full-grain calfskin leather sourced from French tanneries. During the tanning process, the leather is impregnated with tannins, waxes, oils and fats to enhance strength and water resistance. The premium full-grain leather develops a natural patina over time with wear. The shoe features leather lining throughout the interior.
The Chambord is manufactured at Paraboot's factory in Saint-Jean-de-Moirans, Isère, located in Southeast France near the French Alps. In 2017, production moved to a new 11,000 square meter facility at this location. Around 100 workers are involved in production, with 80 percent of the company's manufacturing carried out at the Saint-Jean-de-Moirans factory. The company sources 77 percent of its raw materials from France and exports 67 percent of its production internationally.
