A super cool boot/sneaker fusion. Built on Nicks HNW last and a modified Lace To Toe pattern. Effortless slip on slip off right out of the box while still made from solid, high quality leather and solid work boot construction. The lace to toe pattern allows snug fit along the ball of the foot without pinching, very similar to a old Chuck Taylor. The rolled top hits me just above my ankle knuckle, providing a very unique (at least to me) level of support to the ankle that surprises me. Again, kinda like a Chuck Taylor, but more robust support, without being constricting. No "Frankenstein boot" feel during break in, the ankle travel is remarkably free and easy right out of the box. Pacific Waxed Flesh appears almost black one moment, then a brighter blue the next. The natural grain of the Light Grey Cypress really comes through and is just gorgeous. Both combine in a understated two-tone, subtle enough to pass the first look and draw a second. Casual sure. Built to take hard use certainly, but oddly refined.
