Made in the company's Lewiston, Maine factory by craftspeople with decades of handsewing experience, the boot combines classic moccasin construction with modern materials like the Reltex Lactae Hevea "Rally" outsole pattern. The model is offered in multiple leather options including Heritage Brown water-resistant leather, Natural pull-up leather, and Charcoal Grizzly full grain leather, with a limited Color 8 shell cordovan edition released for the company's 15th anniversary in May 2023.

The Baxter Boot uses genuine handsewn moccasin construction, a traditional method where craftspeople hand-fit leather to a shoe form called a last and hand-stitch the leather with needles and waxed thread. Workers use a sharp, needle-like tool called an awl to slice holes into the leather hide as it's being stitched on the last, rather than using modern pre-punched holes. This traditional approach maintains the flexibility and characteristic crimped edge that moccasins were originally prized for.

The boot features unlined construction for enhanced breathability, with natural leather midsoles providing direct foot contact with the leather. The unlined design allows the leather to conform more closely to the wearer's foot over time while maintaining the inherent breathability of the natural materials. Construction is performed in Rancourt's Lewiston, Maine factory by craftspeople, some with four decades of handsewing experience, using the same techniques practiced for generations.

The Baxter Boot is available in multiple leather options to suit different preferences and uses. The Heritage Brown version uses water-resistant leather that provides protection from moisture while maintaining the boot's breathability. The Natural pull-up leather option offers an unfinished appearance that develops character and patina with wear, showing the natural variations in the hide.

A Charcoal Grizzly full grain leather option provides a darker appearance while maintaining the durability characteristics of full grain construction. In May 2023, to commemorate the company's 15th anniversary, Rancourt released a special edition Baxter Boot in Color 8 shell cordovan, marking the first time the Baxter model was made in this premium material. Shell cordovan is known for its smooth surface and distinctive deep burgundy color.

The Baxter features a 4-eyelet Ranger-moc design with antique brass eyelets and chestnut leather laces. The boot uses a Reltex Lactae Hevea "Rally" outsole pattern, which provides traction while maintaining the aesthetic of a traditional handsewn boot. The toe shape follows a classic round design similar to Rancourt's 114 last but with a slightly longer length and broader, taller toe box for a roomier fit.

The boot's silhouette combines the low-profile appearance of a moccasin with the ankle coverage of a boot, creating a versatile style suitable for both casual and semi-formal occasions. The ranger-moc styling features the characteristic moccasin toe construction with decorative stitching around the toe cap, maintaining visual continuity with traditional handsewn footwear.

The Baxter Boot is produced in both men's and women's versions with different size ranges to accommodate various foot dimensions. Women's sizes range from 6 to 10 in B width, while men's sizes span from 6 to 11.5 in D, E, EE, and B widths. The company recommends that customers order their normal Rancourt size, as the boot follows the brand's established sizing conventions.
