Use & wear
The Nicks BuilderPro isn’t just the ultimate work boot. I wear these things everywhere. I originally bought these for work, but then found myself wearing them all the time. Hiking, fishing, camping, or just around town. At work i subject these boots to extreme conditions. Hundreds of wet dry cycles. Choking dry dust. Exposure to concrete slurry from cuttoff saws. These boots have been through the wringer, and are no worse for wear.
Leather
The break in process was a bit rough on these. I had a couple hotspots for the first few weeks of wear. This leather is THICK and very strong! My daily leather care routine: - Remove mud/slurry with garden hose - Let dry - Brush with nylon brush, then horsehair Monthly leather care routine: - Scrub with saddle soap - Apply Obenaufs LP I have also used Saphir leather balm to condition the inside of the boot on occasion. Obenaufs LP has been very effective at keeping water out of the boots and protecting the leather. After many applications the roughout has taken on a waxed flesh look.
Fit
The sizing is perfect for me. I wear these with a regular insole in warm weather. In the winter i am able to swap to a thinner felt insole, which creates loft in the boot as it takes up less volume. This gives me enough room to wear a thick wool sock.
Craftsmanship
I really like the logger aesthetic. The kilties, the heel profile, the v100 outsole. Just an all around badass looking work boot! Finishing was top notch. Nicely polished heel stack. Not one stitch out of place.
Sole & heel
I am super impressed with the durability of the v100. With the thicker midsole option it is very firm underfoot, which i quite like.
The tall heel on these boots is very practical. It is super useful for standing on ladders, or walking on steep/uneven terrain.
Final thoughts
These are the most comfortable boots i have ever owned. I liked them so much i ordered a second pair with a lineman patch & shank. Now i have two pairs to rotate between, or a pair to wear while the other is resoled. Nicks BuilderPro - 10/10 ⭐️ The Ultimate Work Boot
