I wanted to try a waxed flesh and the black waxed flesh was fresh on the rocker so I picked it, and I wanted the Thurman last because I love the extra toe room I got in my iron rangers but wanted a higher arch so went with the 55 last. I am not the biggest fan if logger heels but the packer heel is right up my alley I grew up wearing western style boots. And the 8inch I wanted so they weren't as hot and were more convenient to lace up. I didn't need the height for extra protection. Still probably go 8" on every boot I get next.
I had a pair of 10.5 D builder pro in the 55 last so just changed it to Thurman and it fit great. Would just go up in width next time.
I ordered the boots online when they put the MTO for the horween black waxed flesh. I originally had the V-100 sole but emailed customer service and switched it to the 430 mini lug because I didn't need the aggressive sole and thought it would look ugly in a dogger heel. They were great and timely and the boots came as requested with the mini lug sole.
Hiking, painting, delivery driver, walking in snow, walking in water, walking on concrete, bartending. Just everyday use I think there was a total of like 15 days that I didn't wear the boots over thast 5 months. They have gone everywhere and done everything with me! I even wore the boots bartending in st Patty's from 9am to 3am the next morning. My feet held up great in the boots.
It has gained a few scratches but nothing serious and it has roughed up a lot and a lot of the brown core has popped through and it looks great. The backs gave become burnished because of my pant legs and the sides have burnished also from rubbing against pallets and stuff constantly. Cut a few trees down in them and the boots didn't take much damage and held up perfectly. I think the leather is more theb thick for what most people do in work.
Like a glove. They are so comfortable every part of my foot has a place. They give that satisfying pop when my foot slides in and unless I wear really really thin socks my feet stay perfectly in place. The sizing was awesome like I said maybe go up in a width but even then I think they were great. And the 8" height made them so much easier ty grab and put on even for shorter stretches of time. The dogger heel is so supportive and helped a lot in going up and down hills and what not.
Great boot! The only thing I would change is probably go with a lighter colored leather and smooth out. I'm not sure why but I'm not if a smooth leather guy. But other then that the boots were perfect.
Great sole, but a lot if traction for mud and the woods and ice. But for most day to day use they are great. And not picking up as much mud and the v-100 is a huge bonus so a good thing to go with over the downsides of the less traction in mud.
