Use & wear

Outdoor Activities
Humid Climate

I have mainly used these boots for hiking

Leather

Nicks/seidel 1964 Monarch

The leather has held up very well. Any light scratches that have shown up I have been able to condition, and they dissappear. They have broken in relatively easily for a pnw boot, and with conditioning every 2 months they have stayed pretty soft.

Fit

55 Last: 10.5DUS Men's Brannock: 11D
Length Feels Right
Volume Feels Right
Ball Feels Right
Satisfied with the Fit

At the beginning of the competition, the toe was narrow, and the heel was wide, but it became very comfortable with time.

Craftsmanship

Nicks Packer

The construction is very good. There are some stitch lines that are slightly out of place but not enough to be easily noticed.

Sole & heel

Vibram 430 Oil-Resisting Mini-Lug Full SoleLess than a day, current sole

The vibram 430 has been a very good outsole for my purposes. The grip is decent and comfortability is very good

Vibram V-bar HeelWorn for less than a day, current heel

Unfortunately I am not very happy with the speed of wear on the bar heel. It is already overdue for a re-heel. Traction is decent.

Final thoughts

Would Recommend

Overall, it's a good boot, but there are a few minor problems to consider.
