So far, I’ve only worn these once (saving them for more serious wear after the Thunderdome). That said, first outing got me more compliments than any other pair of boots I own. They look great, feel substantial, and are a solid black boot that stands out without being flashy.
The Black Oil Tan from Seidel is the star here. It’s just as it appears in the photos—deep, oily, rich black that feels sturdy and already has a bit of personality. Even though these are new, it’s easy to see the leather will patina nicely with actual wear. This was the exact leather and look I was after for a black boot.
Went TTS with a 9D (same as my Trumans and MPs). Fit is snug—maybe a bit narrow, but not uncomfortable, and the length is perfect for me. The toe cap is on the shorter side (gives them a fun, almost cartoonish vibe), but heel and backstay both feel dialed in. First impressions are very positive—these should break in well.
The build is sturdy, but you can spot some signs of a more “handmade” process if you look—stitching isn’t perfect everywhere, but honestly, it adds charm to the boots. The hardware is spaced a bit closer than on some American boots, and the included white laces look kind of out of place (I’ll swap to brown or waxed flat laces soon). Still, everything feels secure and well put together.
For around $250 USD in Europe, these are a killer alternative to Iron Rangers (which are much pricier here). Seidel leather, classic American style, and an overall good deal for what you get, especially if you like a little personality in your footwear. If you have a little patience for the lead time and appreciate a boot that feels distinctive and true to its online photos, the OSB Mill Boot in Black Oil Tan is a fantastic pick. No regrets—I sold my Iron Rangers for these and don’t see myself looking back. Looking forward to seeing them age.
