Use & wear

I wore these almost every day in all sorts of weather from sun shine to snow. Walking, hiking, plowing snow, driving, etcetera

Leather

S.B. Foot Hawthorne Muleskinner

The break in was easy and the leather is quite durable. Just simple brushing to clean them is all that’s needed. As the patina developed, the color changed to a darker brown from the light color they started with at the first wearing. They look great.

Fit

The boots fit quite well and feel fine. The fit can be easily adjusted simply by wearing different thickness of socks.

Craftsmanship

Red Wing Blacksmith

These boots are well constructed but they aren’t much different from any other service or work boot.

Sole & heel

This sole does have a fair amount of grip but it isn’t the softest so I would like an extra layer of leather for padding. It does very well on a dry hiking path or with some mud. It isn’t the best on ice but still provides a little bit of grip though it’s easier to walk on snow.

Final thoughts

I would recommend Red Wing footwear as they have something for everyone.
