While at work I have worn these while getting a new chiller operational, and ended up splashing around in a lot of water. The Vibram mini lug sole with no slip features was very helpful. I also moved vacuum pumps to my shop for maintenance. I spend a lot of time at my desk writing software, or working on electronic equipment that is malfunctioning. I went on a trip to Michigan where I was able to do some hiking in the snow and cold. They performed very well. I could have used some slightly thicker socks though. Traction was very good in the snow as well.

Care Routine
Break-In

I found the break in to be easy compared to what I was expecting. In one week the leather went from very stiff to fairly soft. The second week also had some softening but not as much. During break in had a few hot spots near my heal which were not too bad and did not develop any blisters. The leather has become a richer shade of brown and now has a luster to it. I have tried to go with minimal care for these brushing when they looked dusty or had a lot of scuffs. I cleaned and conditioned once at about 4 months. I felt they seemed dry and extra dirty after getting exposed to some snow and rain. I started brushing a bit more often at 2-3 times a week after this. They did get one scratch on a hike when I stepped on some debris hidden under the snow. The boots breathe well especially if using the right sock for conditions. For my use case these boots are incredibly durable. I expect it will be quite a while before I need to do a resole.

Satisfied with the Fit

These boots fit my foot fairly well. I have zero heel slip, my toes have plenty of room. The waist of the boot is snug. Walking seems fine and even standing for extended periods has been good. Though some days it’s a bit harder under foot than others. Wearing the right weight of socks has helped a lot when regulating temperature, and getting the right amount of snug. Arch support is fairly low and sometimes I feel my arch getting tired . That is the only thing that had me taking the occassional break from wearing them for a day.

Construction

I really like the design.most of the construction is good, biggest problem I have is the speed hook backstay on one spot in particular wore halfway through the tongue in about 2 weeks. I then put Kilties in to protect the tongue. This seems to be caused by incomplete compression of it and the sharper edges sticking out. The thread work and overall finish of the boot is pretty good.

Sole & heel

Traction
Durability
Design

This sole has gripped well on all but one surface. There was a cobblestone street that was very slippery when wet . That was the only time I experienced slip. So I am happy with the traction it has provided. Other surfaces I walked on without slipping were wet concrete and tile, oil covered tile, and various sidewalks, dirt walkways, and gravel. This sole has worn some on the heel but not excessively. I expect it to last a long time. I like the look and overall design.

Final thoughts

Would Recommend

I have really enjoyed finally having a boot with both the look, feel and comfort I felt I should have had in my combat boots.
