Getting ready to write this piece, I started selecting the so-called relevant topic to get some inspiration. And, man, i just clicked on 'em all. This sums up the past 6 months : apart from dedicated sports shoes like runners or climbing shoes, I've been quite literally living in this pair of Legatant. To work on outside-sub-0 conditions, to parties to own the dancefloor, to short hikes in the Pyrenees, to the workshop where they proved to work fine as safety boots, to the city to ride a bike, to my best friend's wedding. But also in sub-optimal scenarios such as through endless TSA checkpoints everytime there was a flight. To a 3 weeks trip in Africa walking through farms, jungle, savannah or sprawling cities. Loading and unloading the van after each farmer's market, or washing hundreds of glasses and cups. Part of it was the spirit of the Thunderdome, but the truth is, they are just so damn comfortable, I didn't want to wear anything else.

Leather

Amber Arborwax

As this pair was gifted by Sagara as a prize for the last Thunderdome, I wanted to give thanks by representing them in this year's using their newly developed leather. I love that Sagara could integrate this part of the supply chain into their mix, and I love that they chose to work with local tanneries for this. Really happy to support this endeavor. The leather was quite supple out of the box, with a deep dark brown sheen. With wear it became buttery, extremely comfortable, and as the top coat wore out more character peaked through. I conditioned twice or thrice as the conditions throughout the dome were both really dry and extremely wet. And I brushed every other day or so.

Satisfied with the Fit

Satria from Sagara has been nothing but patient and went over and beyond to help with sizing. We went with 42E, which is TTS in both length and width. I typically struggle with pinkie rub, and the last proved itself accomodating even after LONG days of wear or wearing extra thick socks. I'm happy with the fit, and enchanted with the CS. Couldn't recommend more. Legend.

Craftsmanship

Sagara Legatant

This pair is a prize from the 2024-25 Thunderdome. Design was easily tweaked to meet my demands by the Sagara team and the results came out brilliantly! Every stitch, eyelet and leather panel was where it needed to be when the boots showed up, and still are 6 months later. They held up great.

Sole & heel

Vibram 2333 Mortara Half Sole Black6 months, current sole

Durability is excellent. 6 months later it has barely worn through it's actuly quite surprising. Traction could be better, I slipped a few times and didn't feel super secure on wet or mud. I would probably resole to a 430 or a Dr Sole Supergrip.

Final thoughts

In a modern world ever more so riddled with uncertainties, political turmoil and climate scares, knowing where a product comes from and who made it shines a little bit of light on this somber reality. In addition, to be granted the chance to follow it from its conception and to watch it become something else, more beautiful, better fitting, that supports you and walks this strange journey we call life with you, to be granted this chance I think brings hope and peace onto this path. It certainly did on mine this past 6 months, and for this I am grateful to Sagara and this Thunderdome.
