These were a combination of style and comfort.

Use & wear

I wore these at work almost exclusively for five months. I could wear them almost continuously for over 24 hours frequently. I wore them approximately 6 to 7 days a week. The ability to slip them on and off was paramount. The custom sizing was not perfect, but worked relatively well.I work as a trauma surgeon, and was able to clean these off without too much difficulty.

Care Routine
Break-In

This leather is a classic for a reason. It doesn’t require much care. I treated them once, and simply brushed them otherwise. The scuffs do show the pull up effect, and I brush them out most days. The break-in is really easy with this leather as well. If you keep them brushed and conditioned, the boots won’t show nearly as much where. This is both a beauty and a curse of the leather that it will look nice most of the time. It takes a lot aware to show serious patina.

Fit

The last thing was made to measure for my foot. It wasn’t perfect as I have a very low volume foot. I still needed an insert to take up some room. This cramped, my toes, just a smidge, and the unstructured toe collapsed on top of them. However, I was still able to wear them without difficulty for extreme lengths of time. I definitely couldn’t run race in them though.

Craftsmanship

Wesco Boss Engineer Boot

The design is about as good as it gets. The construction was relatively good. The stitching was decently done. There were several flaws in the leather on the right boot, compared to the left boot. Dying inconsistencies on the leather were glaringly obvious on the right boot. Most of that was on the shaft and not noticeable with wear. It didn’t bother me, but these were far from perfect. In spite of the cosmetic issues, these were very durable with no complaints.

Sole & heel

The half soles look really nice on the original boot. I didn’t give as much to spring as I wanted. There is somewhat thick and durable. The heel pad did wear a little bit on both sides, which is probably just from the extreme amount of use.

Final thoughts

These are beautiful boots that are not cosmetically, perfect, and the long wait time was very difficult. I’m not sure that I would do that again. However, these are a classic boot that really can’t be beat for the style, comfort, and overall feeling. I love these boots and get compliments very regularly almost daily, but I feel like there may be some other options out there with a shorter wait time and slightly better cosmetic construction. all that being said, I will never get rid of them, and will likely resole them and keep them forever.
