Worn the boot almost everyday for 6 months. it has gone through rains and shallow waters, walking with my dogs around the park , rode with this on my vespa scooter and harley Vrod and since my work entails constant bending of the toes when I measure client's feet and constant kneeling.
The break in was effortless. Handlasted this boot and ensured that footbed and soles has enough flexibility to create the rolls I want on the vamp. Chose the shell membrane part of a Maryam olive horserump leather on the vamp and quarters and used a thick oak tanned leather soles. In the first few days of wear, rolls became noticeable. Rolls deepen with every wear. My maintenance on this boot is just constant brushing, no shoe trees, I left them on the balcony overnight to let them dry, and to get some air. Over the period of 6 months color has changed from olive to almost like yellowish brown. Polished them twice with saphir amiral shine.
The boot was made as a bespoke, sizing fits well, boot is flexible and with an unstructured toebox, it has become so comfortable. footbed has molded well on the foot.
The design of the boot leans towards its heritage looks being based from a Boondocker design used by US Army in Pacific WW2. Boot is handwelted and the oak tanned leather soles are handsewn with a braided stitch design. Finishing is neat, no stitches from the upper came off.
Sole is thick yet flexible and it held up well for 6 months. still has lot of life left for beating
This has been a great experience for me as a first timer. From testing the boot I built, having great adventures, getting praises and feedbacks from people whom we share the same interests within the community. Will keep this boot on display as a souvenir from this memorable experience. Thank you Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome.
